Prof. Buza is a Professor of School of Life Sciences and Bioengineering specializing in Immunology, infectious diseases, proteomics and Bioinformatics at Nelson Mandela African Institute of Science and Technology (NMAIST). Holds a PhD in Parasitology & Immunology from International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI, Kenya)/Sokoine University of Agriculture (Tanzania).
His main areas of research interest are in Immunopathogenesis of diseases; viral, bacterial and parasitic. Vaccinology: exploring novel vaccines and adjuvants Disease diagnosis and surveillance: Biomarkers and rapid diagnostic tests for diseases. Water borne diseases, cheap filters for safe water provision, and water borne pathogen source tracking and One Health.
